Essex Savings Bank and Essex Financial Services, “Glad to Give”
The holidays make for the perfect time to stand together and give back. Earlier this week, Essex Savings Bank and Essex Financial Services were glad to present a donation of $2,000 to Westbrook Youth and Family Services, Inc to help fund their many programs. Essex has proudly donated to WYFS on many occasions, one including the sponsorship of a child cancer patient to attend Camp Rising Sun for “a week of fun and friendship” this past summer.
Westbrook Youth and Family Services provides needed assistance to improve communities along the shoreline. This includes clinical and enrichment programs both at the agency and within public schools. From individual to couples therapy WYFS is committed to aiding children and families through any and all of life’s hardships. A few programs to highlight include “Helping Hands” a club for teens entering 9th-12th grade to support their community through service projects of their choosing and PAUSE, classes for parents on teen substance use and prevention.
Currently, WYFS is running a treasured Community Connection Program that started by collecting stories from members of the community. These stories are then posted on bulletin boards throughout the town. The hope for the program is for these recollections to allow others to “find inspiration from our neighbors’ triumphs in the face of challenges.
Philanthropy at Essex Savings Bank and Essex Financial Services is a top priority. As a part of their Community Investment Program, Essex has donated up to 10% of its net income to a variety of non-profit organizations within Middlesex county since 1996. These include contributions to well over 200 organizations ranging from causes such as children to the environment. Keep an eye out for more giving from Essex Financial Services this holiday season.
